Painted Skin - 画皮
Surprisingly interesting!
It tells the tale of love, human and demon alike, presenting a conflict in a different manner. It’s but of course an adaptation from the Chinese literature Liao Zhai.
I’ve had heard numerous mumbles and jumbles that the moving ain’t really all that good, I braved myself for a yawn inducing movie; at least I thought I would. But surprisingly, while the jokes were blunt, there were good laughs. With Donnie Yea as Renegade-General Pang Yong being one of the key figures, one can definitely expect top quality of moves in the minute battle scenes.
It’s a love story, tragic love to be precised, and I think the move manage to bring it out in a nice manner. Well paced and the dialogs delivered movingly by the lead actresses brought the show alive sparring me from a possible torturous 90 minutes.
Though so, I must say the CGs in the movie ain’t well executed, pretty flawed as they do not yet manage to trick the eye as per what Hollywood has since been achieving - movies after movies. Heck, I did even notice the awkward movements of the actors on cable.
Overall, I’d still rate it a good 7.0/10.0.
