On politics… The older I get, the more it doesn’t sound like anything in the textbooks.
Was out for some street shooting with Jack & MoiYih during the last visit to Kluang. There are some shoots that I’d been thinking of doing - at the traffic light intersection at Jalan Mersing, facing Coronation building. Was there just in time after sun set - blue glow on the sky can be found. Armed with my tripod, I set out for long exposures. Timing myself with the traffic light’s phases, the streak of lights is what I’d achieved.
Jalan Mersing is one of the oldest road in Kluang. In 1969, there’s a big flood here and basically the whole road is flooded. Sungai Mengkibol (Mengkibol River) is just beside the Coronation Building. The Coronation Building used to be one of the four cinemas in Kluang. I still remember I watched my first mid night show, James Bond’s License to Kill, here.
Shot towards Jalan Penghulu Kassim. The green FDI Shop below, lower left, is where the A&W fastfood is located.
This is also where the center of the town used to be in the early 80s. The bus stations is just within walking distance from here. So is the old pasar (market). There’s also one Merdeka Garden & the Diamond Jubilee Hall (opened in 26th July 1963).
26th July 1963, the officiate date of Diamond Jubilee Hall.
Well, time flies since 1979…
Every significant landmark building has a fruit nickname.
I quote one forumers who recently made a comment to KLCC. It is resembling the Jagung. Essentially, it’s the malay word for corn. I guess he has somewhat, a certain degree of truth and observation when he made that statements. As an example, Esplanade in Singapore resemble the Durian.
The KLCC does indeed resemble 2 corns, all lit up torching the KL skyline. It really is a magnificient piece of architecture - modern art - that grace the KL skyline.
It’s also one of the most photographed buildings in Malaysia, since it’s completion. Postcards, posters, magazines, movies - you name it. It’s representative of Malaysia.
I too, have my share of photographing the Jagung. Here are my takes and I do hope it’s a different kind of angle that I’d captured.
~ The End ~
