Wall-E

Top notch sci-fi of the summer!

WALL-Eposter

Believe at this age, not many could pull it off with such limited number of dialogs. Everything is just seamlessly woven to present to you one greatest sci-fi animation. Think I am so going to pass over Clone War for this.

It started slow and nice, a wierd robot going about its day on an abandoned earth. With rubbishes towering over the city, only on one day, another yet weird robot began flying around the vicinity. Except of course, this time it’s armed with a deadly weapon and also a quirky processor.

There began an adventure of al life time to finally bring everyone that had abandoned and forgotten the roots to what was once called home. And the antagonist being a very surprising robot of no value, programmed by a Corporate leader (whom sordidly mimic what we can relate to in today’s world of leadership) to perform whatever it takes to remant people from doing so.

It was so engrossing and funny that I can’t help but believe it’s really one top-notch sci-fi animation.

While the sci-fi element was presented with a good story, the animation was delivered with a good story-telling. One perfect recipe.

8.0/10.0 from me, Pixar rocks!

Death Race

Going pass the actions and thrilling car races, it’s simply a flat movie with a flat story.

Death_race_poster

I must say it’s definitely entertaining for yet another mindless summer flick. The girls are hot, the cars as well. I like how they built up the story with the crash of economy, framing, scheming, taking control and finally, “Back to you, my friend!”. Of course, everyone loves a happy ending!

Anyway, the other idea that’s very appealing to me is the game like car races. It’s so arcade like that I believe given to the right gaming house, it’ll  be a hit.

All in all, 7.0/10.0 from me.

You Don’t Mess with the Zohan

Boring hairdressing jokes entangled in some of the most bland racist jokes ever. Don’t watch it unless you’re really bored; and that’s when you’re really really bored.

With_the_zohan

I find the whole show too mindless for not having anything really funny to laugh at. There goes all the classy jokes I was expecting. Perhaps I’ve grown out of Hollywood jokes.

A mere 3.0/10.0 from me.

The Bank Job

Based on a real crime, it’s definitely worth to be ranked as one of the top crime movies for me.

TheBankJobposter07

Small time petty criminal Terry Leather (Jason Statham) who had since gone straight was induced to rob a bank by his old girlfriend Martine (Saffron Burrows). Unbeknownst to him, Martine had another plan in mind. He had his doubt, but his needs to get out of his current predicaments caused him to go ahead.

The way to rob the bank was pretty straight forward. Dig a tunnel through the ground, appear in the building from inside, clear all the safe deposit boxes, get away. Simple yet thorough. Throughout, there were quite a number of humourous scenes and exciting moment. However, it only appeared totally wicked when the twist began to unfold one page at a time.

Unfortunately, though the ending was good, some guys did die an unfair dead IMO. Nevertheless, being one good show for me, I definitely awarding it a good 8.0/10.0!

Hancock

Been wanting to see how this anti-hero movie develops and ends, and true to most of the reviews I read online, disappointing.

Hancockposter

Hancock tells the tale of a superhero who is very much like Superman (minus the x-ray eye and ice breath) who uncharacteristically does more harm than good to the city he yearns to protect. Thus, come the story of redemption only to find that while it could be done, he is never alone.

At first, it definitely sounds great, but once the cliche of the plot and novelty wears off, there really ain’t much too see as yet another summer flick. Actions are mundane, and dialogs boring.

I’d only rate it a 5.0/10.0

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Just another summer flick, albeit being in China.

Dragon_emperor_ver4

Yeah I said it, it’s simply yet another summer flick. Nothing serious or special to really look forward. You can expect mummy (this time there are actually like platoons of them), heroes & heroins, some jokers for comical effect and well, lotsa CGI. Action wise, even with Jet Li as the Dragon Emperor, it wasn’t that impressive either.

The story goes, pretty flat without much twist. The only difference compare to the previous two Mummy movies will be that it’s now Chinese lore instead of Egyptian.

Anyway, it quite entertaining for about 100 minutes worth about 5.0/10.0.

The Dark Knight

Why so serious?

dark_knight_joker

I really do not feel like penning down my miserable take on this movie for I know I’ll do it no justice at all. At all! Every single minute of the 153 short minutes were worth double the ticket price. It was simply mind blowing, a perfect concoction.

The last time I watched a superhero movie with more than one villain (think Spider-man 2 & 3), the plot and storyline went awry. It was as if the writer couldn’t decide on whom the focus should be on. This however, with so many other sub stories going on at the same time, managed to pull everything together.

But overall, think as many on the world wide web has echoed, Heath Ledger performance as The Joker was simply brilliant! Definitely made all the previous Jokers looked like, well, clown.

I really wish to continue writing my take on this, but the tremendous pleasure and excitement that continues to linger in me after more than 24 hours of watching it, I think I should stop writing.

After all, WHY SO SERIOUS? 9.5/10.0
