Utter disappointment!
To be frank, I never really wanted to watch this 6th installment. Why? Simply because I found it to be the most boring of all 7 books (as boring as the first half of the 7th I must say). However, after reading some good reviews online, I made a change of my heart.
So I managed to get myself into the cinema. The big screen came alive and the movie opened good enough with the destruction of Ollivander’s Wand Shop. I thought this was a good omen. Boy was I wrong!
The movie seemed to go down ward and further down from one scene to another. Pass one hour, it was still merely tolerable. Nearing the end, I was trying to be quite pumped up expecting a big fight scene that could at the very least bring it to the climax! Nope, never came, though the death scene was at least good.
I understand that it’s impossible to cramp all the stories in the book into an already lengthy watch. In fact, I really applaud some of the parts cut off, like the muggle minister. But to cut off completely the political arm of the story? Also, I really wonder how the 7th book would be played out given that both the Order and DA roles had been downplayed in this.
I must say it was re-scripted beyond recognition and perhaps may proved to be a disaster for the coming 7th! In fact, the 6th book didn’t really stood out by itself, it was really like a transition. Unlike all the first 5 books with stories of their own IMO. So I am now really worried for the 7th (and maybe 8th since the Hallows going to be made in 2 parts; which I dread the first part).
Two friends who haven’t read the book commented after the movie that they were quite lost and don’t quite get it. Heck, one of them fall asleep during the movie! And they still didn’t understand why Snape is the Half Blood Prince.
It really isn’t a decent movie, but a good watch to some extent. A 4.0 maybe too much, but it ain’t stooping as low as 3.0. I guess I’d stick it as 4.0/10.0.

I can’t believe I paid RM8 to watch an old men being killed without putting a fight despite him being one of the more powerful wizards.
