Is Information Security about …

… keying in one half of the passwords?
… doing check boxes style list review?
… going through paper work?
… making queues at your mercy?
… being stone cold with soft words?

Guess that’s what IS is really about - if not fully, definitely partially!

What I’ve learned from the above is that while technology can be as advanced as it can be, we should never over look all the processes in place to keep the checks and balances.

It’s very true that IS has always been glamourise by the legends (fable or not) of hackers breaking into multi national coorperations, bringing down the whole grid, launching nuclear weapons, stealing credit card number, crediting 1 cent into own account and of course, free phone calls.

I must admit that I’ve always been a fan of those exploits, especially when they are being made into good reading material. However recent experiences at work made me realized, there ain’t a guru in everyone. Most of us are just plain right down the hierarchy scrapping the bits and pieces. And the least we can do is to use like 1% of the available advancement to achieve things.

Hence, each of us have a way to contribute in building the pyramid. That’s why, even if it’s not glamourous work I may be doing, it’s still very important! (Okay, desperately trying to stay positive here!)

Then again, it’s still a pain to go through those questions - especially when you’re at the mercy of them.
