Code Geass - Season 1
I was only introduced to this series recently. Heck, I started with R2 (season 2) before knowing about this. It’s certainly a very interesting series.
The series started very mysteriously and slow IMO. The characters were developed very slowly and steadily. Not rushing etc. Slowly, the intensity built up and I continued to get hooked with it.
The mecha seasoning for the series looks interesting as well. They looked pretty achievable for current advancement in technology as compare to what Gundam might have always offered. At the very least, these Knightmare frames feel vulnerable!
Then, the tipping point of the series came when Lelouch accidentally cast the geass on Euphy. That was the OMGWTFBBQ moment I had. After that, everything went down hill. It seemed to be a rushed ending where everything just tumbled into chaos. Sure enough Euphy’s sacrifice made the Black Rebellion possible and tipped the favour to the Black Knights, but it was just too sudden for everything to overwhelm everything!
Then came Suzaku’s face-to-face confrontation with Lelouch and the shocking event of Kallen discovering Zero’s identity; and then that was it!
No doubt it set the tone and stage for the second season, but heck I do not think it’s a good ending for such a wonderful story. Heck, right now, I find that perhaps the second season just ain’t worth it that much anymore! It all could have ended better in the first. Second season could have started better as well!
But then again, that’s just my little rant, it’s still an enjoyable series and second season feels good too at the very least. I’ll definitely follow through the second season to see what is up with Lelouch and Zero!
